Fit & Able invites you to be part of the Charity Distance Festival to support many area non-profits that serve our community.
Nonprofits provide important programs and services to our community for the needs not met by the government or other organizations. Unfortunately, they can't all have their own races to help raise support for their missions.
That's why Fit & Able is staging the Charity Distance Festival at no charge to the participating nonprofits to help them raise much needed revenue and provide them the opportunity to raise awareness about their efforts too.
This year we're also adding Conquer the Hill time trial! Can you rise to the challenge of racing the hill at WakeMed Soccer Park? With a staggered start at the bottom you can test yourself against the 400m beast!
So, pick your distance – 1 Mile, 5K, or 8K and add the Hill Challenge! - then invite your friends and family to race with you! Don't forget! If you get 5 friends to join you using the referral link in your confirmation email you'll get an automatic $15 refund on your registration fee!
A few of the participating nonprofit organizations include:
Mariposa School (for Children with Autism)
Wade Edwards Learning Lab (WELL)
Soles 4 Souls - Wearing Out Poverty will be collecting shoe donations on race day, so please bring out any new or gently-used shoes with you to help support their mission.
Events: Everyone is welcome to participate! All participants will have chip-timed results that will be posted online. All Fit & Able Productions, Inc. events are inclusion events: anyone of any age, skill-level, or ability can participate in any race! USATF Rules: No dogs, bikes, or strollers permitted in race!
Athletic Trainer: An athletic trainer will be available at a medical tent located near the finish line.
Water Stations: There will be a water station on the course and at the top of the hill near the finish line. Water is also available at the registration and refreshment area. Additional water stations are marked on the maps (see above).
Packet Pick-up: All participants must show a photo ID or be with a guardian with a photo ID in order to pick up their race packets and can only pick up their own race packet. Early packet pickup will be announced race week.
Volunteers: We need your help! If you're available please sign up to volunteer between 8:30 AM -12:00 PM.
Awards: Awards are provided by Omega Sports - Crossroads Plaza.
Race Souvenirs: Charity Distance Festival t-shirts are available for $15 until May 29th (or while supplies last race day). 5K and 8K finishers will receive a race medal. Milers and Hill Challengers can purchase a medal for $5.
Online registration closes on June 19th at 9 PM. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted at packet pick-up and race day.
NOTE: NO REFUNDS, TRANSFERS, or EXCHANGES.
The Charity Distance Festival and all its participants are subject to these event policies.
NOTE: Information from this site is often shared to or posted on other online sources, including event and race calendars, that aren't updated when changes are made here. This site on RunSignUp is the only official and continuously updated source for information regarding this event.
Fit & Able Productions is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting community and family fitness in Cary since 1997 through organizing creative events and training programs. We also support many programs, such as swim safety lessons for at-risk children and adults, youth fitness programs, and health education run by our community partners including the Cary Family YMCA, Triangle Aquatic Center, and Town of Cary. Proceeds from our events that aren't designated to support other organizations go to support the event and other Fit & Able nonprofit activities.
We can't wait to see you at the Charity Distance Festival!
