About This Activity

The Turkey Trot is a 4 Mile trail run/walk through Carolina Beach State Park. Proceeds go towards a discretionary fund for the park. Administered by the Wilmington Roadrunners Club, it helps support park projects such as trail maintenance and upgrades, nature programs and any other uses to be determined by Park Staff, or special purchases not met by its allocated budget. All you can eat, Hot Breakfast Buffet provided.

Event details and schedule

COURSE: Race begins at Carolina Beach State Park Marina. Runners will proceed on paved road and then enter well marked trails through pine forest and over wooden footbridges. Footing is generally good with occasional sand, roots, and limb hazards. Water is available at the start and finish. The course has been designed and accurately measured by the Wilmington Roadrunners.


DAY OF RACE PACKET PICK UP: Carolina Beach State Park Visitor’s Center. From 7:00 am to 8:30 am. The left is approximately ¼ mile on the right upon entering the park. Additional meal tickets can be purchased for $9/person at that time.


EARLY REGISTRATION AND PACKET PICK UP: Tuesday November 25th from 9 am to 6 pm at Omega Sports, Hanover Center, Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC. Registrants receive a 10% discount on most store items during this period.


AWARDS: First male and female finishers receive two night oceanfront accommodations at the Golden Sands Hotel, Carolina Beach. Age group awards will recognize 3 deep in men's and women's catagories as follows: 8 and under, 9-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. Larger age groups may be awarded more deeply. No specific walk awards are given, however walkers may qualify for awards based on finish time.


PARKING: Parking is available at the Park Marina and the adjacent picnic area. The race starts here! Limited parking is available at the finish line on Nature Trail Way, which also serves as the Breakfast/Awards Venue. This area is a short walk back to the Marina.
