About This Activity

Program Details:

The Summer Adventures program is an experiential, outdoor summer camp for kids 8 to 12.  The goal of the program is to expose children to the joys of exploring and recreating in our parks.  It is based at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve but includes visits to numerous local parks. 

The cost of the program is $300 for each two-week session.  The registration fees cover the costs of the required uniform and all trips and experiences associated with the program includinng items such as kayak rental, whale watching, berry picking and honarariums to various, non-profit presenters.

The program offers kids the opportunity to:

  • Meet new people and make lasting friendships
  • Do nature projects while having fun and staying fit in the outdoors
  • Go hiking to places you’ve never been
  • Learn to use a compass and a GPS
  • Explore the world of undersea life, birds and mammals at Point Lobos and elsewhere around Monterey Bay
  • Visit the Coast Guard Rescue Boats
  • Pick Berries and make jam
  • Visit Elkhourn Slough
  • Visit Point Pinos Light House
  • Participate in resource projects
  • Go whale watching
  • Be outside, make a difference and learn about sustainability

Please noteThere is a $50 fee for cancellations that occur after registration has been completed. No refunds will be given for cancellations that occur less than 30 days before the start of the session in which your child is registered.

Event details and schedule

The Summer Adventures program is held each weekday of the session from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
