The open Marathon will be $150 for registrants on a first come, first served basis. There will also be a JUST RUN charity option available for those who wish to donate to JUST RUN, the marathon's youth fitness program. The cost will be $300, with $150 of that going as a charitable donation to JUST RUN. The 21-Miler is $130; the 10.6-Miler to be determined; the 9-Miler $95, the Relay$340; the 5K Adult $30 and the 5K youth $20; the 3K $20 for age 18+ and $5 for ages 4 - 17.
For the 10.6-Miler only: $100 through 8-24-13; $110 from 8-25-13 to 11-30-13; $120 beginning 12-1-13

MARATHON TIME LIMITS – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU REGISTER Thank you for your interest in the Big Sur International Marathon. If you have never done our event before, there are some very important requirements you need to note prior to entering our beautiful but also very challenging event.
Our permit to hold this race on Highway 1 between Big Sur and Carmel is very restrictive. Highway 1 is a narrow and winding two-lane road and is the only access to this section of the coast for 90 miles. For the final 24+ miles of the Marathon, runners are restricted to one lane (the ocean side). The other lane is used for emergency and official race vehicles and for scheduled vehicle convoys for residents and visitors during the race.
Please do not enter the full marathon unless you completely understand the following conditions: • The Marathon course time limit is six hours, a pace of 13:45 per mile. If you are unable to maintain this pace for 26.2 miles, you can be removed at any point of the course and transported by bus or van to the finish line. • There is no option for early starters. The Marathon begins at 6:45 a.m. and features three start waves that are approximately 5-minutes apart. • Any runner who has not made it to mile 22 by 12 Noon, a little over five hours from the start of the last wave, will not be allowed to continue on the course. This deadline reflects a 13:45-per-mile pace. We will transport those runners who arrive at mile 22 after 12 Noon to the finish line. These runners will receive a 21-miler finish medal and be listed in the results book as also participating but will not have an official time. • Unlike an urban course, there are no sidewalks to continue on after the roads are open. Because this is a point-to-point course, there is no way to cut off a section of the course if you fall behind the time line. • This is a challenging course with rolling hills, a steep two-mile climb between miles 10 and 12, and often strong headwinds in certain sections. Past participants have said their pace on this course can be as much as a minute per mile slower than on flatter courses. Please plan your training accordingly. • Realistically, the Marathon is not a good choice for most walkers and many slower runners. The 21-Miler may be a better option. Except for the first five miles, the 21-Miler course is the same as that of the marathon and includes both Hurricane Point and Bixby Bridge. • Because the 21-Miler begins at 6:30 a.m., 15 minutes earlier than the marathon, there is a six hour and 30 minute finish time limit, a pace of 18:35 per mile. The 21-Miler is also a good event choice for power walkers.

MARATHON • Must be 16 years of age or older to enter. Limited to 4,500 entrants on a first-come, first-served basis (includes B2B and RWC marathoners). Race begins at 6:45 a.m. • Male runners with a predicted time of less than 3 hours and females with a time of less than 3:15 qualify for seeded bibs. Seeded runners may be contacted for verification of predicted time. • Bib-chip timing by SVE Timing for all participants. Overall awards are based on GUN time; divisional awards are based on chip time. Runners must show a time on all course split mats (miles 5, 13.15 and 22) to be eligible for awards • There are no entry refunds, transfers or rollovers for any reason. BOSTON 2 BIG SUR CHALLENGE• Registration opens for this category at 7:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time on July 15, 2013 and is limited to the first 400 to sign up on a "first-come, first-served" basis • Entry fee of $230.00 includes an ASICS B2B training shirt and finisher’s jacket in gender-specific sizing, a custom participant bib and finisher medallion, access to a special B2B tent at the finish and an entry to the post-race party to be held Sunday evening, April 27th. •B2B registration does NOT include a Boston registration – you must register separately for Boston either by your qualifying time or through their charity program. To take part in B2B on April 27, 2014 you must have run Boston on April 21, 2014 and received an official finish time.
THE 21-MILER • Highway One opens to traffic at 1:00 PM so there is a strict 6 1/2 hour time limit for the 21-Miler and one must finish within this limit to receive the official Finisher’s Medallion. This is a pace of 18:35 minutes per mile. The 6 1/2 hours begins when the final starter crosses the timing mat at the start of the race. 21-Miiers must reach the marathon mile 22 mark by 12:00 noon or they must get on a bus that will return them to the finish. • Must be 16 years of age or older to enter. Limited to 1,000 entrants. Course distance is approximately 21 miles. Race begins at 6:30 a.m. • Bib tag timing by SVE Timing for all participants. This is a timed, NON-COMPETITIVE fitness event and there are no awards given. Participants have the option to run or walk the course, or do a combination of both. • Entry fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. No exceptions! • Participants receive an Asics technical fabric shirt and custom ceramic medallion.
THE MARATHON RELAY • Must be 10 years of age or older to enter. Limited to 225 teams. • Teams consist of up to FIVE members. Team categories are Open Male, Open Female, Masters Male, Masters Female, Open Mixed, Masters Mixed and Corporate Mixed. • Bib chip timing provided by SVE Timing. • Entry fee if NON-TRANSFERABLE and NON-REFUNDABLE. No exceptions! • Highway One re-opens to traffic at 1:00 PM and there is a strict 6 hour time limit for the Relay and one must finish within this limit to receive the official Finisher's Medallion. YOUR TEAM MUST FINISH THE RELAY IN 6 HOURS OR SOONER TO BE OFFICIAL FINISHERS, RECEIVE MEDALLIONS AND BE ELIGIBLE FOR AWARDS. This is a pace of 13:45 minutes per mile. • Any changes to teams after 4-18-2014 subjects the team to a $30.00 late processing fee. • Participants receive an Asics technical fabric shirt and custom ceramic medallion (five medallions per team). 10-6-MILER • The walk/run begins at Rocky Point Restaurant on Highway One at 7:00 AM. Must be 10 years of age or older to enter. Limited to 1,600 entrants.• This is a chip-timed, non-competitive fitness event with a 6 hour time limit. Participants may either walk or run, or do a combination of both• Entry fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. No exceptions!• Participants receive an ASICS technical fabric shirt in gender-specific sizing and a custom ceramic medallion
9-MILER • The 9-Miler begins at 7:45 a.m. along with the 5K. Must be 10 years of age or older to enter. Limited to 1,000 entrants. • This is a chip-timed, non-competitive fitness event. Participants may either walk or run, or do a combination of both. • Entry fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. No exceptions! • Participants receive a Asics technical fabric shirt in gender specific sizing and custom ceramic medallion. • Online pre-Registration for the 9-Miler closes on Friday, April 18, 2014 and will resume again at the Expo on April 25th and 26th. There will also be race morning registration.
BIG SUR 5K • Must be 8 years of age or older to enter. • Entry fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. No exceptions! • No pets or children in strollers or backpacks permitted on the course • This is a chip-timed, competitive event with divisional awards • Online pre-registration for the 5K closes on Friday, April 18, 2014 and will resume again at the Expo on April 25th and 26th. There will also be race morning registration.
JUST RUN! Just Kids 3K • DATE: Saturday, April 26, 2014 • TIME: 8:00 AM • LOCATION: Lovers Point Park in Pacific Grove, CA • A 3K (approximate 2 mile) out and back course beginning and ending at Lovers Point Park. There is also a 1.5K option (.9 mile) recommended for participants six and younger. This is a non-timed fun run for children, their friends, and family. All registrants receive a finisher’s medallion and a unique aquatic-themed t-shirt . • Must be four years of age and in good health to participate
