Welcome to the Doc Spackman Triathlon Festival 2014!

On Saturday, October 4, 2014, the region’s top triathletes will take over the streets and waters of Southern Illinois University to compete in one of the most long-standing triathlons in the world - the 32nd Doc Spackman Triathlon Festival. New this year are two triathlon distances to choose from- the ever popular Doc Spackman “Classic” Triathlon (350m. swim, 5 mile bike, 2 mile run) and the new Spackman Sprint Triathlon (700m. swim, 10 mile bike, and 4 mile run).  Both races have the same start and finish lines by the beautiful SIU Campus Lake.  Choose your distance and join us Saturday, October 4, 2014 for this outstanding triathlon event.

ALSO NEW THIS YEAR- Kids/Family .5 mi run/walk starting at 10:30am followed by a Standup Paddleboard timed race at 11:00am.  The run/walk is FREE and the paddleboard race is $5.  No pre-registration for either of these events, sign up and partcipate race morning.

Event details and schedule

Race day registration open at 6:30am.  Classic Distance starts at 8am, Sprint Distance starts at 9:00am, kids 1/2 mile run/walk at approximately 10:30am, and Standup Paddleboard race at 11:00am.  TRANSITION AREA CLOSES AT 8AM.  All participants, regardless of race, must have their bikes in transition by 8am.  Once the Classic Distance race begins, no one will be permitted to enter transition unless racing.

Both triathlons will begin/end at the Campus Boat Dock on the SIU campus.  The swim portion will be held in the campus lake, site of the previous 31 Spackman triathlons.  Bike helmets are MANDATORY.
