About This Activity

The USAT-sanctioned adult sprint triathlon is a 1/4-mile swim, 10-mile bike and 3.1-mile run on Captiva Island, Florida. The swim will be in the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the bike will cover the length of Captiva Island on closed roads, and the run will be on the golf course path along the Gulf and Redfish Pass at South Seas Island Resort.

There will be three age groups for the kids' tri Sept. 13:

-- Ages 6-8:  100 yard swim, 1.5 mile bike, 0.5 mile run

- - Ages 9-10:  100 yard swim, 1.5 mile bike, 0.5 mile run

-- Ages 11-13:  200 yard swim, 3 mile bike, 1 mile run

Additional information

  • The race is to benefit Community Cooperative's School Pantry & Emergency Food Backpack Program, serving all of Lee County.
  • Additional fund-raising opportunities are available to benefit Community Cooperative.
  • 30 relay teams available for adult race; 2 or 3 people per team.
  • REGISTRATION CLOSES WHEN THE RACE SELLS OUT.  There will be no waiting list.
  • Adult Race Awards: Three-deep by age groups and gender. All finishers receive medals. Elite Amateur participants will be seeded in the opening wave, competing head-to-head with other top amateur triathletes for overall awards, three-deep by gender.
  • Elite Amateur participants must be able to show the following sprint race times in a USAT-sanctioned event: Men 1:00 or under; women 1:10 or under. Those who register in the Elite Amateur whose times cannot be confirmed to meet these cutoffs will be re-assigned to a later wave by age group without a refund of the $10 Elite Amateur wave surcharge.
  • Elite Amateur athletes will place within their wave by gender, with the top three finishers awarded; they will not be eligible for age-group awards. Individual athletes (non-elite) will place by age group and gender, with the top three finishers awarded; they will not be eligible for elite amateur awards.
  • Kids' Race Awards: All finishers receive medals

  • All athletes must pick up their own packets. You will be notified of packet pickup dates and times. Photo ID is required.
  • All athletes must either be annual USAT members or one-day members

  • Race management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to unfavorable conditions.
  • Race management also reserves the right to accept or reject all entry forms.

Event details and schedule

On Sept. 14, the adult swim will start in waves at 7:15 a.m.; five waves total; four by age group and 1 by elite amateur status which is based on qualification times. The course will be swept at 10 a.m.

 

On Sept. 13, the kids will compete by age groups:

-- Ages 6-8:  100 yard swim, 1.5 mile bike, 0.5 mile run

- - Ages 9-10:  100 yard swim, 1.5 mile bike, 0.5 mile run

-- Ages 11-13:  200 yard swim, 3 mile bike, 1 mile run

START: Swim start ages 6-8 at 7:30 a.m.; start ages 9-10 at 8:00 a.m.,  start ages 11-13 at 8:30 a.m.

FINISH: Course will be swept at 9:30 a.m.
