About This Activity
The Tri for Preservation, presented by Noyes, Hall & Allen Insurance, benefits the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust's efforts to preserve natural woodlands, marshes, farmlands and shore lands for the enjoyment of this, and future generations.
The Tri for Preservation features an ocean swim at beautiful Crescent Beach State Park in Cape Elizabeth Maine, only minutes from Portland, ME. The sprint triathlon, aquabike and triathlon relay features a 500 yard ocean swim (in a protected cove), a 14.5 mile bike past farmland and marshlands, and a 3 mile run for the triathlon. The duathlon features a 1.1 mile run, a 14.5 mile bike and 3 mile run.
Post race events include Wild Blueberry Smoothies and a Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast for all participants, plus an awards celebration.
Your registration includes a one-day pass at Crescent Beach State Park and a Tri for Preservation T-shirt.
The Tri for Preservation is also proud to serve as the 2014 venue for the Maine Senior Games Triathlon.
Event schedule and times
EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION: Individuals save $10 and teams save $15 off their registration when you register by Memorial Day, May 26, 2014.
The Tri for Preservation starts promptly at 7:30AM on Sunday, August 17 at Crescent Beach State Park. The Park will open at 5:30AM for participants and close at 7:00AM. Transition will open at 5:30AM and close at 7:10AM.
The Cape Elizabeth Land Trust has pre-paid state park entrance fees for registered athletes and registered volunteers (only). All others will need to pay park entrance fees upon entry to the park. See special note about PARKING below.
5:30 a.m. Pre-registration opens, transition Area opens, bike check-in begins, body marking begins, and timing chip pickup.
7:00 a.m. Registration, packet pickup, and timing chip pickup ends 7:10 a.m. Transition Area closes
7:00 a.m. ***Crescent Beach State Park gates are closed. Gates
will not re-open for inbound traffic until 9:00am***
7:15 a.m.Mandatorypre-race meeting on the beach for all triathletes, duathletes and aquabikers
7:25 a.m. Wave 1 – Novice Wave Swim start
7:33 a.m. Wave 2 swim start
7:36 a.m. Wave 3 swim start
7:39 a.m. Wave 4 swim start
7:42 a.m. Wave 5 swim start
7:45 a.m. Wave 6 swim start (final wave)
7:35 a.m. Duathlon starts, near entrance to transition
9:00 a.m. Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast starts at 9:00am. Each athlete will receive a meal ticket. All others will be charged $5.00.
10:00 a.m. Awards Ceremony near the Food Area.
CANCELLATIONS: No cancellations accepted after July 20, 2014.
