About This Activity

The St. Paddy's Day Engineer 5-Mile Challenge is a grueling off-road race that incorporates Marine specific physical and mental tests and skills. The course was designed for Marines by Marines. As its name implies, It is a race that will test your strength and determination! The course  includes a variety of obstacles and mud pits that will challenge your physical and mental endurance. You will get very dirty on this course! Not a course for speed. Delays may occur at obstacles. Runners will be released in waves.

Event details and schedule

Fees: $30 until noon, Feb 13. $40 until noon, Feb 20. $50 until noon Mar 10. $55 on race day check only. No registrations accepted after noon on March 10 until race day. Register by noon February 13 to guarantee T-shirt size.

One mile fun Run : $10.00 does not include t-shirt.

Time:  The race starts at 8:00 am.  Beginners and walkers are welcome. Runners will be released in waves based on your 1 mile run time.  The one mile fun run will begin after the 5 Mile challenge.

Location: Courthouse Bay is located on Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina at the intersections of Marine Road and Highway 172.  Visitors must enter through the main gate of Camp Lejeune, NC.

Packet Pickup: Packets contain race instructions; runner’s number, safety pins and a commemorative shirt (register by Feb 13 to guarantee shirt). Those who have registered by noon on Tue, Mar 10 can pick up their race packet at the Wallace Creek Fitness Center on Fri, Mar 13 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. All racers can pick up their packets at the race site on the day of the event from 6:00-7:30 a.m. Race registration fees are non-refundable.

Due to security aboard Marine Corps base, you must have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a vehicle registration when entering the base.

Awards will be presented to the top three male and female OVERALL and OVERALL MASTERS finishers, and to the following age categories: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. Team awards will also be presented to the top team categories.  The awards ceremony will be held after the last runner has finished.  Awards will not be mailed.

Finish/Timing/Results/Refreshments: Unofficial times are available immediately at the finish line on the digital display clock.  Finish times will be posted on this website at the conclusion of the race. Complimentary refreshments will be available to all participants at the end of the race.

Grand Prix Points: Grand Prix Series (GPS) points are awarded to individuals and team categories for those who place in each category for qualifying Grand Prix Race events (all events except 1 mile fun runs).  Points will be accumulated to determine the Overall Champion at the end of the year as well as the top three Champions in each Grand Prix award category; Overall Male/female, Overall Masters Male/female and all 5 year age groups.  Team awards will be awarded to the top three teams in each category.  You must complete a minimum of 4 events to qualify for end-of –year awards.

Finishing = 5 points

Age category First =15, second =13, third = 11, fourth =9, fifth = 7 all other =5

Overall and Overall Masters : first =18, second = 17, third = 16.
