About This Activity

Run shoulder to shoulder with America's frontline.. U.S. Marines. Marines pride themselves on physical fitness and mission readiness. The 28th  Marine Corps Half Marathon tests runner's stamina and endurance. The marine Corps Half Marathon is the oldest continuing running Marine Corps  Half Marathon in the East and the only one that is completely contained within the boundaries on a Marine Corps base. This unique feature exposes runners to military life as the course winds throughout many different areas of Marine Corps Base camp Lejeune, NC. The Marine Corps Half marathon starts and finishes at historic Goettge Memorial Field House. The races scenic and flat course  lends itself to setting personal best records and is ideal for runners of all abilities and levels.   Course time limit for the Half marathon is 4 hours.  There is also an option to run a 10k or a 5k race as well as a one mile fun run. Race registration fees are non-refundable.

The Half Marathon starts at 7:00 am.  The 10k starts at 7:10am and the 5k starts at 7:20am.The one mile fun run will begin after the 10k and 5k races.  Register by Aug 21 to guarantee t-shirt size.  Beginners and walkers are welcome.

Location:  Goettge Memorial Field House, McHugh Blvd, Camp Lejeune, NC.

PACKET PICKUP: Packets contain race instructions; runner’s number, safety pins and a commemorative shirt (register by Fri, Aug 21 to guarantee shirt size). Those who have registered by 12pm on Tue, Sep 15 can pick up their race packet at the Wallace Creek Fitness Center on Fri, Sep 19 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 pm or Riverwalk Crossing Park (421 Court Street, Jacksonville, NC) from 3:00 to 7:30 pm. All racers can pick up their packets at the race site on the day of the event from 5:00-6:30 a.m.

Due to security aboard Marine Corps base, you must have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a vehicle registration when entering the base.

 Awards will be presented to the top three male and female OVERALL and OVERALL MASTERS finishers, and to the following age categories: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. Team awards will also be presented to the top team categories.  Teams must have a minimum of 4 runners to score; husband and wife requires2 and mixed teams require at least 1 person of the opposite gender. The awards ceremony will be held after the last runner has finished.  Awards will not be mailed.


 Unofficial times are available immediately at the finish line on the digital display clock.  Finish times will be posted at the conclusion of the race on this website. Complimentary refreshments will be available to all participants at the end of the race.

 Health & fitness Expo/Pasta Dinner:

The Marine Corps Half Marathon will feature a Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, Sept 18 from 3-8pm at the Riverwalk Crossing Park in downtown Jacksonville. The Health and Fitness Expo is Free and open to runners and non-runners. Pasta dinners are free to runners while they last and will be served from 4-8 pm at the expo. Preregistration is required.  Grand Prix Points: Grand Prix Series (GPS) points are awarded to individuals and team categories for those who place in each category for qualifying Grand Prix Race events (all events except 1 mile fun runs).  Points will be accumulated to determine the Overall Champion at the end of the year as well as the top three Champions in each Grand Prix award category; Overall Male/female, Overall Masters Male/female and all 5 year age groups.  Team awards will be awarded to the top three teams in each category.  You must complete a minimum of 4 events to qualify for end-of –year awards.

Finishing = 5 points

Age category First =15, second =13, third = 11, fourth =9, fifth = 7 all other =5

Overall and Overall Masters : first =18, second = 17, third = 16.
