About This Activity
The Dorchester County Family YMCA is sponsoring the Heart of the Chesapeake Bike Tour fundraiser on Saturday, July 25, 2015. The bike tour will include three ride choices, including a 64 mile metric century, a 42 mile tour, and a 10 mile family ride. There will be a picnic lunch and live music waiting for you at the Y when you return!
The event will support the Dorchester YMCA Bob Brannock Endowment Fund. “Mr. Bob” was an integral part of the Y family and volunteered countless hours to help make the Y a better place. He was also an avid biker and known throughout the community for his welcoming and encouraging personality and positive outlook on life. This ride hopes to honor his legacy of social responsibility. The Bob Brannock Endowment Fund has been created to assist in supporting the ongoing facility and operations challenges that Bob was so actively involved in solving.
The Heart of the Chesapeake Bike Tour winds cyclists through the beautiful county of Dorchester and all rides are flat and in low-traffic areas.
**We are raffling off a Bianchi road bike worth $1500!! Thanks to On The Rivet. If you win, you will choose the size/style of your bike and have a professional bike fitting done at the shop. Raffle tickets can be purchased when you register.
Event details and schedule
The Heart of the Chesapeake Bike Tour begins at 6am at the Dorchester County Family YMCA at 201 Talbot Avenue in Cambridge, MD. A “show and go” start for all three rides will be held from 6am to 9am. The course will be monitored from 6am until 2pm.
The 64 metric century and the 42 mile ride registration includes a t-shirt. The Family Ride is $30 for a "family", this ride is a short and fun 10 mile ride to encourage families with children to join us. The family ride does not include any t-shirts. If you would like to participate in the event as a single rider and would only like to do the 10 mile ride, please feel free to register for the longer ride so you receive a t-shirt but follow the shorter course.
Day of registration will be available and packet pick-up will be held at the Dorchester County Family YMCA on Friday evening and on Saturday morning before the race.
There will be plenty of rest stops along the way with snacks and drinks. A SAG vehicle will be monitoring the course until 2 pm.

Parking will be at the Dorchester County YMCA and surrounding community streets.
