About This Activity

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.   The Partnership for Safe Families & Communities of Ventura County, The Child Abuse Prevention Council (The Partnership) and our Prevention Task Forces are hosting 5K fundraiser to promote awareness to child and human trafficking,

The Partnership is the Child Abuse, Family and Community Violence Council for Ventura County.    Our Mission is “to promote a community committed to safe, healthy, peaceful families”.  On behalf of The Partnership, I would like to ask for your support toward this year’s 5K fundraiser, “On Track to End Child & Human Trafficking” being held on Saturday April 25, 2015.

The Partnership recognizes the impact that human trafficking has on families, not only in our county, but across the nation. According to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC), there were 65,557 calls, 1,735 online tip forms and 5,251 emails in the United States between 2007 and 2012. That’s over 72,000 tips related to human trafficking! And 41% of sex trafficking cases have U.S. citizens as victim.

In Ventura County,

  • 2013: Four cases of sex trafficking of minor girls, involving five victims,
  • 2012: Multiple cases-Sex trafficking in a home brothel
  •            Suspected sex trafficking in massage parlors,
  • 2011: Two cases of sex trafficking in home brothels involving

            multiple female victims.

  • Two houses across from each other were Home brothels. Two girls were at one house and a third girl was at the second house. Ten to twenty “clients” visited each brothel daily. (Data & information provided by Forever Found)

Your support of this event will help to raise awareness in Ventura County about this epidemic and provide education through resources and presentations.

Thank you in advance for your support and dedication to the residents of Ventura County.
