If YOU can swim, if YOU can ride a bike, if YOU can run, then YOUth CAN Tri!!! This youth triathlon event is for kids & teens ages 5-15.
It really is as simple as swimming, cycling, and running. All things that kids love to do anyway! Put it all together in age appropriate distances and YOUth CAN Tri!
YOUth CAN Tri will take place at the Alamance County Community YMCA in Burlington, NC on 08/28/2016. The race will start at 8:30 am!
This is a chip timed event where athletes will swim in the indoor pool at the YMCA and then move outside to the transition area located in the front parking area facing S. Main Street. From there athletes will ride up S. Main Street toward downtown Burlington before returning to the transition area. This portion of S. Main Street is three lanes wide and has an additional bike lane on both sides of the road. Once athletes have completed the bike portion and returned to the transition area they will head out on the run course. The run course will take the athletes on paved trails through Burlington's City Park. At the completion of the run it's off to the finish line where the athletes will enter the finish chute, cross the finish line and receive a race medal!
This is a USAT sanctioned race and athletes will be required by USAT to have a valid USAT membership. This can be purchased for $10. All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31 of the year of the event.
Race distances are based on age as follows. Age Swim Bike Run 5-6 25 yards .6 mile .25 miles 7-9 50 yards 1.5 miles 1 mile 10-12 100 yards 3 miles 1 mile 13-15 200 yards 3 miles 2 miles
All athletes are required to wear a bike helmet! Training wheels are permitted on bicycles if needed. Athletes age 5-6 will need to be able to complete the swim on their own however, a parent or guardian can accompany them on the bike and run portion of the race. Athletes age 7-15 will need to complete the entire race unaccompanied. All athletes will be required to have a parent or guardian remain at the race site while they are competing.
Registration is $35 through 08/14/16. Registration is $40 from 08/15/16 through 08/26/16. Race day registration will be available for $45. Race shirts are guaranteed to athletes registered by 08/14/2016. In the event of adverse weather, natural or man made disasters, or other situations beyond the control of event organizers and the race director, every attempt will be made to have the event as scheduled. With consideration to the previous situations mentioned the race may be delayed, postponed, canceled, or race format changed accordingly. There are no refunds, or transfers for this event.
