About This Activity
Our 4th annual 5K event is planned for May 13, 2017. The run takes off at 2pm; registration and checkin will last from 12:30pm-1:30pm. All of the fun from last year, plus more! Planned for the same location, the Cox Toyota dealership field, with the walk/run going through the beautiful MacIntosh Community. Our course is unique with its challenging portions, off-road portions, and portions perfect for the beginner! This race is timed and the course is a certified 5K distance. There will be activities for the whole family, including a SPECIAL GIFT FOR MOM from the Cameron Horner Ministries team, so be sure and bring your mother out! There will be a kids zone including bouncy house and balloons. You can let the little ones join in on the fun of running with our short kid's run to be held directly after main run. There will be fresh coffee, Chick-fil-a, and Kona Ice snow cones before and after the run along with many other great local venders.
The 4th Annual Go The Distance 5K walk/run has been planned to benefit Cameron Horner Ministries. Four years ago at 18 years of age, Cameron had a diving accident that left him paralyzed from chest down. Cameron began this ministry to help others by sharing his Story of Faith and The Gospel of Jesus Christ all over the world by public speaking, radio ministry, and other forms of community outreach.
One of Cameron's goals is to use this ministry to reach out to others with disabilities. Cameron brings awareness about disabilities to the community and teaches ways that others can reach out as well. Many must go the distance just to get out of bed each morning!
This ministry has also been serving the community by feeding the hungry and offering help and hope to the hurting. We are asking that participants bring non-perishable food items to help stock local food pantries. CHM has been involved with a local ministry to help feed the homeless and would like for this event to serve our community and help hungry people. Check out our Ministry page at: www. cameronhornerministri es.org
Registration includes an event T-shirt for those who register by April 26th. Shirts for those who register after April 26th are not guaranteed, so be sure you register in time to get yours!
Advanced check-in will be held at Omega Sports in Burlington on Friday, May 12th from noon - 7pm. Race day registration and T-shirt pickup will begin at 12:30pm. Again, the 5K race will begin at 2:00 PM.
Remember, lunch vendors will be there before the race, so come early and have lunch while enjoying music, fellowship, and our other activities for kids. Cameron Horner will also be sharing his journey in two parts before and after the race.
Awards will be provided by Omega Sports in Burlington, including:
