About This Activity
The Olympian Color Blast is a fun color run for any age that will support The Academy at Nola Dunn Elementary. We are working toward obtaining funds for new technology to further education, help support teachers in our school, and help to build on curriculum. Our school has also supported The Johnson County Women's Shelter for the last 3 years and will continue to do that this year by donating proceeds from every registration to the women's shelter.
Event details and schedule
Multiple start times:
Do I need to be an avid runner?
No! You can run, walk, or skip the 3.1 mile course, while having the time of your life with friends and family getting colors thrown around you! Then celebrating at the massive finish-line with more color and music!!
How does it work?
An awesome 5k course will be laid out. There will be 4 stations along the route that will throw color on you and at the end you should look like a rainbow exploded on you.
What do I need to bring to the event?
Be sure to wear a white shirt you are okay with getting color on or put on the one you received from us with your registration. That means leave the wedding dress, tuxedos, and your company polos at home. Bring a towel, a clear sealable baggie for your phone or anything else you don’t want colored powder getting into, make-up remover wipe or baby wipes come in handy too. Some people wear sunglasses or goggles to keep color away from their eyes, so keep that in mind.
Can I walk the course?
Yes. Many people walk the 5k course in about an hour.
Will the color ruin my clothes?
Although it will probably wash out fairly well, we’re still going to say yes. It’s better safe than sorry. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting colored in. We recommend wearing an awesome white shirt to show the color at its most vibrant!
Are kids allowed at this event…do they need to be registered?
Yes. All kids 4 and under can run for FREE! THEY WILL STILL NEED TO BE REGISTERED to be able to run. They will not receive a t-shirt, but will receive a packet of color. You can however purchase a t shirt for them while registering. They will however, need a parent to sign a waiver. In order to accurately ensure we have enough supplies for all participants (color, water, etc) we need all participants to register online.
Where do I pick up my packet?
Since everyone must register online, packet pickup will be a simple check in just prior to the event. Plan to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to your start time to get checked-in. Remember to bring your signed waiver for all participants.
Can I bring my dog?
Although we are all dog lovers, we do not allow dogs at the event, with the exception of service animals. This is not only for the safety of participants but also for your pup.
How can I volunteer?
This wouldn’t be possible without the help of amazing volunteers. If you or your group would like to volunteer, please send an email to email@example.com and give us some detail about how your group would like to be involved! Thank you!
Can I bring my child in a stroller?
Yes, but start at the very back please. We would like you to keep your children safe from the crazy stampede of people jumping into the air and prancing around in color.
How old do I have to be to participate?
All ages are welcome at The Olympian Color Blast! If your child is under 4 years of age please make sure to register them for their free ticket and sign the legal waiver.
Will the event be canceled if the weather is less than cooperative?
Our event will proceed unless the weather condition is extreme, if that is the case, we will contact you via email and post on our website how we will proceed.
Is the color powder safe?
Yes, it is made from food grade cornstarch so it is safe and natural. All the powder is non-irritant, non-toxic, and conforms to the European Standard (EN71-3). The color is super safe. Just like you wouldn't stick cornstarch in your eye, we recommend avoiding getting the color directly in your eyes. Our volunteers won't be aiming at your face but some runners still choose to wear sunglasses or goggles to avoid the color getting in their eyes. If you go blind, we're not liable. Also, some choose to wear bandanas covering their mouths.
Do you donate to a cause or charity?
Absolutely!! 100% of the proceeds from this event benefit the students at The Academy at Nola Dunn elementary school in Burleson Texas. The Academy PTO will then donate a portion of each registration to the Johnson County Women’s Shelter and make a donation to the First United Methodist Church in Burleson for the use of their facility.
What if it rains?
The Olympian Color Blast is a fun run so we have no problem playing in the rain. If we delay the race, transfers are free; if the run starts on time then all fees apply. We will only delay the race if the city officials or officers tell us it is unsafe.
What is included in my paid registration?
You will get a super cool t-shirt that you can wear the day of the race and a packet of COLOR! You can use your color to throw on your friends as you run or save it until the end to attack them with color post race!
What about costumes?
Costumes are more than welcome. Wear a tutu, a feather boa, any crazy costume your crazy little mind can create! If you or your team are going to come in costumes we do recommend making them as white as possible to ensure you get the most optimal color coverage possible.
Are cameras and phones safe?
We will have photographers taking pictures during and after the 5k but if you want to get some sweet pics in the midst of all that color goodness, we recommend using a plastic baggy or plastic wrap to keep your devices color free.
How do I clean up after the run?
Afterwards you’ll want to dust yourself off before getting in your car, hit up one of our "blow" stations where we will do our best to blow the color off of you. You may want to bring a towel or plastic garbage bag to put in your car for the ride home.
Is The Olympian Color Blast 5k timed?
Heck no! If you really wanna know how fast you ran, bring a stopwatch...but this is a fun event with friends and family while we run, walk, crawl, or two-step to the finish line!
What if I register and then can’t make it? What is the refund policy?
Unfortunately we are unable to process refunds, exchanges, or transfers. When you register you will be informed of our No Refund Policy.
What if I am pregnant?
It's totally up to what you and your doctor decide. The powder is all certified non-toxic. We recommend wearing sunglasses or goggles, and a bandana over your mouth and nose in the color zones just for extra protection.
What if I have an ADA need?
If you have an ADA need please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
