About This Activity

Kai Owens, the 12 year old son of Chris and Kim Owens, was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) In April 2013. RP is a degenerative eye disease which causes a loss of peripheral vision then blindness. Currently Kai has only about 10-15 degrees of vision left -- it's like looking at the world through a straw.  This year, in addition to earning straight A's in school, he's been learning to utilize adaptive technology, audio books, Braille and cane skills. We are doing our very best to prepare him for the future and we are helping him to build a memory bank of important sights and experiences to hold onto.

Olivia "Livie Grace" Wellman is the six year old daughter of Shane and Katherine Wellman of Brooklet. Livie has multiple diagnoses and is an extremely active little girl who has overcome many obstacles in her young life. Livie has under gone multiple surgeries and procedures. She is followed by several specialty physicians and attends approximately 6 combined physical, occupational and speech therapy sessions weekly.  She regularly needs diapers, special nutritional supplements and other items such as special adaptive equipment.

The run uses the same route as the Brooklet 5K Peanut Run that occurs in August. It is a certified 5K course.
