Walk 2M/Run 5K - Individual Age group/open
About This Activity
Please join us in our walk/run to support Boston Children's Hospital and the American Diabetes Association!
The American Diabetes Association is a United States-based association working to fight the consequences of diabetes and to help those affected by it. My father, Louis Baynes, fought this disease for over 10 years. I saw his day to day struggle, especially toward the end. As time went on, his health and quality of life had deteriorated. Diabetes caused him to lose most of his eye sight, the feelings in his hands and feet which eventually led to amputation of a toe and later his leg. After being on dialysis for many years, his heart just couldn't take it anymore and he passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014.
About a month later, my daughter, Elliana Louise, was born with an unexpected heart defect known as transposition of the great arteries. Luckily she was born at Brigham and Women's Hospital which happens to be connected to Children's Hospital. At 4 days old, she had open heart surgery to repair her little heart. My husband and I are forever greateful for Dr. Aditya K. Kaza for saving our baby's life.
It would mean the world to us if you all came out to support these two organizations!
