About This Activity
The Turtle Trek 15K & 5K Run/Walk is an event organized to honor our son Richard Lambert. Richard passed away September 4, 2012 unexpectedly at the age of 26. This event is one of our major fundraisers to help support Hope House of Colorado. They are dedicated to transforming the lives of teen mothers around the world to be self sufficient.
In 2013 our Annual Turtle Trek 5K raised $5,000 for Hope House of Colorado. Along with the support of others they served 110 teem moms and 165 children. We had such great feedback from our 5K participants, we have added a 15K course as well for 2014.
Proceeds will also benefit our local community members with counseling and grief support.
By partnering with an LPC, we have provided 6 families in need of grief counseling, through our first no cost 8 week grief workshop in the spring of 2014. Due to interest from our community, we are scheduled to hold a summer and fall session.
About the Richard Mabert Memorial Foundation:
In memory of our son we have established a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the families in our community by providing a safe place for recovery and healing from the loss of a child or loved one. We are a resource in the community that addresses grief as a public health service, to promote healthy individuals and families with coping skills. We offer faith based counseling and grief support for healing emotionally, physically and spiritually.
We provide faith based counseling and grief workshops to any individual in our community regardless of income, ethnicity, life situation or religious belief. Offering services based on a sliding fee scale according to income.
As well as providing counseling and grief support, we raise funds to support teen moms by empowering them to become personally and economically self-sufficient to give themselves and their children a stable and secure future. To see more information visit richardlambertfoundation.org
