About This Activity

The 3rd Annual Bracken Mountain Races are two separate races to be held in Brevard, NC Labor Day weekend 2016. The 12K race course is an all terrain course from the scenic roads of beautiful Brevard, to a short section of gravel climbing up to the Bracken Preserve, where the challenging singletrack trail loop is featured.

THE RACE SITE     Bracken Preserve

Bracken Mountain Preserve and Recreation Area is 395 acres of forested land owned by the city of Brevard in Transylvania County, NC. This municipal preserve is due west of downtown and adjacent to Pisgah National Forest and the Brevard Music Center. The two trails to be utilized for the Bracken Mountain Race include the Bracken Mountain Trail & Brushy Creek Trail. The race will consist of a one-way loop course.

THE HOST SITE    West Main Street—Brevard, NC

The Race starts on West Main Street (by England Street)—near the Post Office in Brevard, NC. The routes travel out of town on the road, to the gravel approach to the Bracken Preserve and do a loop around the Bracken Preserve. West Main Street will be the start / finish and registration of the races as well as the site for the Bracken Mountain Festival.

  • The races Start is at 8:30 am on Saturday September 3rd, 2016
