2nd Annual BGV Strider Challenge

presented by the Grand Lodge on Peak 7


This race will be sure to get your toddler's adrenaline pumping! Open to children ages 2-5, of any pedal-less bike ability are welcome to join in on the fun! The kiddos will race down a portion of the same course that the pro's will race down during the Stage 5 finish of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge! Although there will not be heat winners, every child will get a gift bag packed with special goodies! Everyone is a winner!

Spectators line the streets during this event and cheer on the participants along the way. The BGV Strider Challenge will start near the Blue River Plaza on Washington and Main Street, which is in the heart of historical downtown Breckenridge, Colorado. The USA Pro Cycling Challenge racers will be rolling into town after 4pm on the same day.

The event is free, but a suggested optional donation of $10 will benefit the Axel Project. The Axel Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the fundamental principle that a productive, happy life begins with bikes. The organization will be donating strider bikes to 5 local Summit County preschool programs. 


New this year are limited edition BGV Strider Challenge bicycle jerseys! With a limited amount available, you don't want to miss your chance to outfit your Strider rider in true bike racing style! Jerseys are available at registration on this site or on the day of the race for $25.

Event details and schedule

The BGV Strider Challenge will begin at 12pm on Friday, August 22nd. Check-in will open at 11am. All racers must check in by 11:45 am. Please make sure to bring a Strider Bike or other pedalless bike for each participant as well as a helmet. Safety first!

Parking is available near the event site. However, due to the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, road closures may effect exiting the area. The most convenient parking will be at the Satellite Lot to the north of town off of Highway 9 and Airport Road; there will be dedicated shuttles to bring you to the action. Additional parking can also be found at: Gold Rush, Ice Rink, Klack Placer, Upper and Lower Exchange lots, Tonopah, Sawmill/Wellington, Court House, French St.
