Shaare Torah Jewish Community, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the Islamic Society of the Washington Area are once again partnering for the second annual Montgomery County Interfaith 5K. Our goal is to bring together communities of faith in the county so people from diverse backgrounds can join forces to share a fun and health-promoting activity, teach tolerance through exposure and friendship and enjoy each other’s company. We are still seeking partners in this endeavor. Any interested religious institutions may email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The MoCo Interfaith 5k is an inclusive event, designed to bring together people of different backgrounds to meet, socialize and work together to better the entire community. While many attendees are people of faith, the event respects all backgrounds and does not embrace any one religion or belief system. Religious services, proselytizing and preaching are not part of the public program and should not be practiced at the MoCo Interfaith 5k.
Religious groups like the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities USA, Lutheran Services in America, and Jewish Family Services have long been among the leading providers of social services in many parts of the United States. The 2017 Montgomery County Interfaith 5K will continue those traditions by donating 75% of the race profits to support the local Montgomery County community. In 2017, race profits will be donated to Gaithersburg Help and C-4.
