About This Activity
New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding, Inc. (NBTR) is a non-profit 501c3 that is dedicated to serving individuals (ages 5 and up) with behavioral, emotional, mental and physical disabilities through the power of horses. NBTR relies on donations, fundraisers and grants to operate on a day to day basis. Our goal is to strengthen the minds, bodies and souls of individuals with disabilities by providing a recreational outlet that has therapeutic benefits. The responsibility of riding and caring for a horse will encourage self-esteem, confidence and coordination. The aim of our program is to see positive changes in the riders both spiritually and physically.
NBTR started in 1997 with 3 students, 3 horses, and 20 volunteers. We have served over 900+ students with over 11,000 volunteer hours. These individuals live in Warren and surrounding counties with special needs that include behavioral, emotional, mental and physical disabilities such as Autism, ADD & ADHD, Spina Bifida, Downs Syndrome and many more. Each year we see a huge demand for recreational activities for disabled individuals.
