About This Activity

The Run for the Nets 5k is a fun, healthy event catering to runners, health walkers and anyone seeking a more active lifestyle who wants to support a noble cause. This year’s 5K starts at St. James UMC and ends in Weldon Peete Park (Low Hollow Trail). The course uses a section of Bowling Green’s Greenways – a series of paved paths for walkers, runners and cyclists. After crossing the Barren River, the race finishes in Weldon Peete Park and includes beautiful river bottom scenery. Shuttles will return runners to St. James for the post-race party and awards. A race shirt and goody bag is included with each registration.

All race proceeds will go to Imagine No Malaria, which seeks to put faith into action by ending preventable deaths caused by malaria in Africa. Imagine No Malaria saves lives by working against malaria through prevention, treatment, education, and communications. The organization operates as an arm of the United Methodist Church and currently provides services to 16 countries in Africa. For more information, visit (
