If you want to add a little color to your life - or a lot of color - you can head out to Oak Mountain High School May 17th for the Color Me Rad 5K run.
This first time event combines the exercise of a 5K (3.1-mile) or 1 mile run or walk with explosive bursts of colored cornstarch being sprayed all over the runners and walkers.
Run participants start out in plain white T-shirts and run through color stations along the route, each with a different color. By the time they're through, the runners look like a rainbow.
We'll coat your thighs with Color Bombs of blue, green, pink, purple, and yellow until you come out like a tie-dyed hippy on the other side.
Each section of the run adds a new explosion of color to your clean, painter's palate until you cross the finish line into a final blitzkrieg of color.
Help raise money for the American Cancer Society by participating in this run as one of Oak Mountain's Relay for Life funraisers!
Arrive at least 30-45 minutes prior to the start time of your race in order to get signed in on time.
Make sure to bring your ID for sign in, sunscreen, spending money, and an extra towel for after!
White t-shirts will be provided in the Runner's Bag for participants to wear along with athletic shorts and tennis shoes. Funky hats, tutus, crazy socks, etc. may also be worn.
There will be available parking at Oak Mountain High School, Oak Mountain Intermediate School, and Heardmont Park (if needed) along with provided transportation to get people to and from.
The start and end of the race will be at the front of the school while the rest of the race goes through the parking lot, up on the sports fields, and down in the adjacent neighborhood.
