About This Activity
J's Run 5K Run and Fitness walk is an annual event for pancreatic cancer awareness and research. Now in its' 6th year, J's Run, a 501 (c)3, was formed to memorialize two local women, Joan Stein and Jennifer Reeves, who both passed away from pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer has no cure, no early detection, and clearly not enough treatment options. This type of cancer is often not detected until later stages and treatment options are limited.
J's Run 5K is always held during Mother's Day weekend. The course is fast, mostly flat, and runners will enjoy a downhill finish. Runners and walkers will enjoy traveling through various neighborhoods of Hanover Township. Many participants have a personal connection to pancreatic cancer, however, the event continues to be a favorite for entire families, moms and their children, youth running groups, and of course local elite runners!
Event details and schedule
The race begins promptly at 9AM, starting in the front of Asa Packer and finishing at the rear of the school. With the race growing each year, carpooling is definitely helpful. Plan to arrive early in order to get parking in the front lot. Parking is not available behind the school. Additional parking is available on the streets next to and behind the school. Please do not park on either side of the starting line.
Registration is available online, paper registration, and on race day. T-shirt availability is limited if you register on race day and price increases by $5. Early packet pick up is available on Friday, May 8th from 5 to 8pm at 4940 Matts Drive, Bethlehem, PA. If you are a walker, please note that you will not receive a bib number.
Prizes for top finishers in each age category are announced post race. There is always a great raffle with many prizes from local businesses and gift baskets all to be announced afterwards. Bottled water and post race snacks will be available, too.
