About This Activity

On your mark! Get set! Go! Registration for the Run, Walk, and Roll 5K is now available both on and on our website. This annual celebration of everybody’s abilities will take place on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the Squalicum Boat House in Bellingham. Proceeds will benefit Work Opportunities, a local program designed to connect adults with disabilities and employers in order to build diverse and resilient communities.

“At Work Opportunities, we believe that it is through work that we learn career skills, expand our social networks, earn money, and establish our identities within the community,” says Phil McConnell, Executive Director. “Seventy percent of working-age people with disabilities are unemployed. Work Opportunities is working to change that, so that people with disabilities have the chance to work and join the mainstream of community life! Please join the effort by participating in the 2nd Annual Run, Walk, and Roll!”

This event will take place in conjunction with National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Held each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month is a campaign that raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. The theme for 2013 is “Because We Are EQUAL to the Task.”

In addition to the race itself, there will be activities for the whole family to enjoy, including live entertainment and door prize drawings!
