About This Activity

Announcing the 1st Annual Bandit Fun Run, a celebration of people living with nature and preserving water quality!

This year’s race will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Larrabee State Park, featuring two fun and challenging racecourses, a kids’ run, live music, food, and other festivities for all ages! Don't foget your Discovery Pass and carpooling is encouraged.

Kids’ 0.5 Mile Dash:
Kid’s races will start at 9 AM where kids will compete against their age group in a 1/2 mile obstacle course. Race will start by the bandstand, run along the trail over the creek, and wind back towards the playground area. There will be prizes and a root beer garden with food, music, and other festivities to follow. Costumes (that are easy to run in) are encouraged!

4.5 Mile Fun Run/Walk:
Sign up to run or walk the 4.5 mile course! This course will start at 10 AM at the Larrabee band stand area, cross over Chuckanut Drive, briefly follow the inter urban trail, and continue up the Fragrance Lake trail. The course will turn off to the right, passing by an aid station at mile 2 and will head back down Fragrance Lake Road to end where the race started. There will be prizes and beer garden for racers, food, music, and other festivities to follow. Costumes are encouraged!

7.5 Mile Fun Run:
Sign up to run the 7.5 mile course! This course is challenging but well worth it! It will start at 10 AM at the Larrabee bandstand area, cross over Chuckanut Drive, briefly follow the inter urban trail, and continue up the Fragrance Lake trail. The course will turn off to the right, passing by an aid station at mile 2 and will take a turn to head along the Lost Lake trail and traverse up the brand new Rock Trail featuring a total of 164 stairs up (and 7 down)! Next the course will follow the steep Black Diamond trail to pass by the aid station again at mile 5.5 and head back down Fragrance Lake Road to end where the race started. There will be prizes and a beer garden for racers, food, music, and other festivities to follow. Costumes are encouraged!

Who is hosting the race?
The Bandit Fun Run is supported by volunteers and local nonprofit organizations. One dollar of each registration fee will be donated to Larrabee State Park for graciously hosting this event to help maintain trails. Proceeds will help support two local nonprofits. The Northwest Straits Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation’s Larrabee Water Quality Stewards summer internship program to help improve water quality at Wildcat Cove. Grinnin Fish is also partnering with Surfrider and provides hands-on, science-based educational outreach and presentations for youth and adults.
