About This Activity
The Hope House and Penobscot Community Health Center are pleased to have their 1st annual Run for Shelter. The event is being sponsored to promote awareness of the need for services to support the homeless within our community. Funds raised from the event will assist homeless individuals who have substance abuse and/or mental health issues receive shelter, food, basic necessities and healthcare support.
The trail run/walk with be held at the Rolland F. Perry City Forest (Bangor City Forest). The park encompasses more than 680 acres of wildlife habitat and working forest in Bangor, Maine, and features more than 4 miles of access roads and more than 9 miles of trails for running, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing.

Event details and schedule
The Run for Shelter will be held October 17, 2015 at the Bangor City Forest. Day-of-race registration and online registrants can begin to gather starting at 8:30 a.m. at the East Trail parking lot off Tripp Drive when entering from Stillwater Avenue. The run will start promptly at 10:00 a.m. The race will start on the East Trail between the bathroom facilities and the Boardwalk. The course will follow the East Trail heading North for ~1 mile before turning West onto Rabbit Trail. Runners and walkers will proceed along Rabbit Trail for ~ ¼ mile until they reach the West Trail. Heading South, participants with complete the remaining portion of the event on West Trail before finishing at the parking lot where they registered.
