Run For Maine Heroes is dedicated to honoring Maine’s Fallen Heroes, from all foreign wars, and their families, known as Gold Star Families. Their sons and daughters, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters all made the ultimate sacrifice. While these true American heroes are honored, their families are all too often forgotten.
Run For Maine Heroes is a fundraiser for Maine’s first Gold Star Family Memorial monument, honoring the sacrifices these families also made. This monument will be for Maine’s Gold Star Families by the Citizens of the State of Maine.
Run For Maine Heroes will consist of four running relay teams starting from North (Limestone), South (Kittery), East (Calais), and West (Gilead). Over 36 hours, these runners will cover varying distances, finishing in Bangor on Veterans Day.
In total, 675 miles will be covered; 218 5K’s run; with 110 runners and 60 support staff to raise a goal of $75,000. In addition to running the miles, this event specifically brings to light the need for a Maine Gold Star Family Memorial monument, honoring our fallen and their families by bringing awareness to their lives.
