Safety to the runners is of utmost concern to the Uwharrie Running Club. With Hurricane Florence being a Category 4 Hurricane, forecast to hit the coast of North Carolina, come inland and stall for a few days, the Uwharrie Running Club has decided to postpone the Run the Valley 5K, 10K & 1/2 Marathon to October 27th.
With runners coming from throughout the Carolina's, Virginia & Florida to participate in Run the Valley, the URC Board Members have made the call early in the week so people can focus on staying safe during the impending storm.
More details to follow. Also, the URC will allow runners to defer their entry to the Run the Valley 2019.
Half Marathon North Carolina’s Most Challenging 1/2 Marathon The Run the Valley Half Marathon is back for the fourteenth year for you to tackle. Deemed the most challenging half marathon in the state of North Carolina, the course will take you to the top of Morrow Mountain and back to Badin..
10K 2018 marks the 21st Annual Run the Valley 10K. This out and back course offers rolling hills and beautiful rural scenery. The course begins at the Badin Post Office on the corner of Falls Road and Boyden Street. Runners follow Boyden Street to Valley Drive and run to Morrow Mountain Road where a left turn takes runners toward Morrow Mountain State Park with the turnaround at the Baptist Church and back to Badin.
5K For the eighteenth year, you may also choose to run or walk this fitness 5K and enjoy the rural landscape. This course follows the same route as the 10K with the turnaround marked on Valley Drive.
