About This Activity

My name is Sarah Knoll, and I am a senior at Greenbrier High School. All seniors who do not duel enroll are required to do a senior project. I have always been interested in the medical field, particularly pediactrics and neonates. For this reason, I have decided to research the effects of substance abuse during pregnancy. Along with having to write a research paper, we are required to job shadow for eight hours and also do some kind of product that will benefit others. The product that I have decided to do is this 5K. It will benefit others, because all the money raised will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Augusta, Georgia. They are a non-profit organization that helps support and house families who have sick babies and children in the hospital.

The 5K is called Capes For A Cause 5K Run/Walk. It will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. Sign up early, while you can and receive a free, long-sleeve race t-shirt! If you register past the cut-off date, t-shirts will not be guareteed.

Come out and run (or walk) for this good cause!

Event details and schedule

Race day registration and packet pick-up will begin at 7:00am at the Magnolia Pavillion and the race will begin around 8:00am.

Along the running trail, signs will be posted regarding where to start, turn around, and end.

Upon entering Savannah Rapids, take the first right and parking will be available there and around the corner. The Magnolia Pavillion will be located around the corner, and down the hill (signs will be posted to direct parking and the way to the pavilion).

All runners will be encouraged (but not required) to make and wear a cape to wear during the race. All capes (if wanted) can be donated, along with the money raised, to the Ronald McDonald House for the children to wear, play with, or even use as blankets. These capes will also be donated to the families of sick children, because to their children, they are their hero. Prizes (such as gift cards) will be given for the most creative cape (boys and girls). So be creative and make a cape to wear for this amazing cause!
