About This Activity

What is Move For Moms! ?
Move For Moms
! is a “Fun Run” designed to promote maternal mental health. This event is located in Atlanta’s beautiful Piedmont Park, and includes a 1k for younger children and stroller enthusiasts, and a 5k for those who are up for a longer distance. After the race, refreshments, food, our post-race raffle, an awards ceremony, and family friendly games are all provided as part of the fun.
This event is organized by Project Healthy Moms of Mental Health America of Georgia.  Mental Health America of Georgia is a nonprofit organization, and Project Healthy Moms is a subset of the organization dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting resources for women suffering from perinatal mood  and anxiety disorders like postpartum depression.
The purpose of this event is to raise awareness about postpartum depression and other maternal mental illnesses. Maternal mental illness affects nearly 20% of women who become pregnant, and these illnesses can have a drastic impact on the health of the whole family; consequently, Mental Health America of Georgia believes maternal mental health needs to be discussed openly and without stigma. We hope that this event will provide families with information about postpartum depression and other maternal mental illnesses, and will encourage the community to rally together to support the mental health of our mothers.
Move For Moms! is a family-friendly event, and we would love to see you there. Bring your family, bring the stroller, bring your running shoes—there is something for everyone! Everyone is welcome to attend to show your love for our mothers. Maternal mental health touches all of our lives, so please come out and enjoy the park, support the cause, and help us MoveforMoms!
