About This Activity

In recognition of Gehrig, who was initiated into Phi Delta Theta at Columbia University, the fundraising efforts of Fraternity members and the Iron Phi program is a way to achieve personal athletic goals while helping The ALS Association and Phi Delta Theta Foundation achieve their collective goal of raising awareness and monies for ALS research. Proceeds from the “Iron Phi-ve” 5k will help fund research efforts for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The run is hosted by the undergraduate and alumni chapters of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity across Georgia.

Event details and schedule

Course:  Will be a cross country style event starting at 110 Lake Herrick Dr on the UGA Campus.

Awards: Awards will be given to overall male/female, overall masters male/female and top 3 finishers in standard age groups from 10 and under to 75 and over.

Timing and Results: Finish line management and results provided by Classic Race Services and results posted to,, and

Series Affiliation: The race is part of the 2015 Black Bag Race Series.

Shirts and Goodies: Shirts will be guaranteed to those who register by 3/15/15 and will be given out while supplies last to those who register after that date and on race day. Refreshments provided

Race day registration and packet pickup: Begins at 7AM

5K: Starts at 9AM
