Brambleton Kids Run the Nation - Spring 2015
Sun, Mar 8, 2015
About This Activity
The Kids Run the Nation program is a gender inclusive, multi-week, youth running program designed by the Road Runners Club of America to meet the physical activity goals outlined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for children.
The emphasis of this program is on participation and developing a healthy lifestyle as opposed to being a competitive running program. The focus is on improving personal times and distances...and having FUN!
Families in Training, a locally-owned business, delivers the program to our area. The outline of the curriculum for the program was developed by the Road Runner Club of America (RRCA) and further developed by Families in Training. Our lead coaches are Certified Coaches through RRCA.
Registration includes: race fees for culminating race (Step Sisters' Brambleton Ribbon Run 5k-10k Run/Walk & Kids' Fun Run, www.BrambletonRibbonRun.com). Registrants by February 15th will receive a shirt.
Among the lessons covered:
Proper running form
Fueling & hydrating
Having FUN while running!
Our program culminates with group participation in a local race. The race for the spring 2015 season is the Step Sisters' Brambleton Ribbon Run.

The kids will be broken up into age/ability groups. Each child is encouraged (but not required!) to have a running buddy. Join us for practices and train along with your child(ren) for the culminating event!
Your child will need the following for every practice/run:
* Good running shoes - All Kids Run the Nation participants will need a pair of running shoes for the program.
* A bottle of water labeled with your child’s name
As the weather shifts, please plan to dress in layers to stay comfortable. Please pay close attention to everything that you bring to practice. You are responsible for leaving with all clothing, water bottles, etc. that you bring.
Before each practice your child should have a healthy snack. You might want to save dinner for AFTER practice since it’s not ideal to run on a full stomach.
