About This Activity

Come join us at the annual Kenmore Middle School Cougar 5K/Fun Run. Conquer our beautiful newly designed 5K course in Bluemont Park that traverses the Four Mile Run and Washington and Old Dominion Trails. This fast, mostly flat route will give you a great workout in one of Arlington's most beautiful parks. The race starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 30th.

Not much of a runner? Choose to do our 2-mile walk instead!

Register now by clicking Sign Up on the top right. Registration is $25 for adults and just $10 for participants 18 and under. All registration fees for this race will support activities that directly benefit Kenmore Middle School students in Arlington, Virginia.

All finishers get a custom race medal for the Cougar 5K/walk. All registrants get a race T-shirt and a participant goodie bag. Prizes will be given to the top two finishers overall and the top two kids under 14 who finish first and second. Food trucks at the finish festival for those starving after the race. It will be fun event for grownups and kids. If you don't have kids in Kenmore, you're still welcome to join the Saturday morning fun.

If you're Kenmore Faculty or Staff, the Cougar 5K and the 2-Mile Fun Walk are both free. Just email with your name and position, and we will register you. You do not need to register here.

Packet Pickup
You can pick up your race packets, including the race bib you'll need to wear during the race, at school on Friday, April 29, from 2-4 p.m. Look for our table near the front entrance of the school. You can also pick up your packet at school the morning of the race. Come to the PTA table. Morning pick-up opens at 7:30 a.m. and will run until about 8:30 a.m.

Race Day Schedule
Parking for the race is available at Kenmore Middle School, 200 S. Carlin Springs Rd.

7:30-8:30 a.m.: Morning packet pickup at school. Come to the PTA table. Day-of registrations are also available until 8:30 a.m. 

8:40 a.m.: Participants depart school for the starting line, located just past the small parking area off Carlin Springs Rd. in Bluemont Park. If you type the address "5727 N. Carlin Springs Rd." into your GPS it will take you there. If you're not driving and feel sure of where to go, you can meet us at the starting line in Bluemont Park. The race will start promptly at 9 a.m.

9 a.m.: Runners start.

9:10 a.m.: Walkers start.

After completing the race, runners will return to Kenmore for the Finish Festival to claim their medals, a light snack, and drinks.
9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.: Finish Festival at school with music, food trucks, and various local vendors.

10:30 a.m.: Special awards presentation for top finishers in various categories. 

Kenmore Middle School (KMS) is an arts and technology focus school that is powered by STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). Located along Carlin Springs Road in South Arlington, Kenmore has a wonderfully diverse student body, with more than 70 percent of students belonging to racial minorities. Kenmore celebrates this cultural diversity, striving to be an inclusive school community where families are engaged and valued. 

Note: This race starts at an entrance to Bluemont Park that is just off Carlin Springs Road near Kensington St. If you type 5727 N. Carlin Springs Road into your GPS, it will get you to the starting line. Look for a small parking area just off Carlin Springs Road. Race-day parking is located at Kenmore Middle School, 200 S. Carlin Springs Road. Runners and walkers can park at the school and walk less than five minutes down the hill to the starting line. We recommend you arrive at least 30 minutes before the race begins.
