About This Activity
Due to Inclement Weather this Race has been modified to a Duathlon!
America Multi-Sport has now partnered with the local organizing team to host the 2014 race!
This race takes place in the beautiful Pokagon State Park of northeast Indiana. Conveniently located at the intersection of Interstate I69 and the I80-I90 toll road.
Swim: The race starts at 9:00 AM on the Main Beach, which is down hill from the CCC Pavilion, with a one or two lap (1500m) triangular swim in Lake James. The water may unfortunately be cold, so a wetsuit is highly recommended. Rental wetsuits can be obtained from the Three Rivers Running Co. in Ft. Wayne or www.wetsuitrentals.com.
Bike: Upon exiting the water the race proceeds up the hill via a lot of stairs and to the secure transition area in the lawn in front of the pavillion. The 40k bike course follows out the main road of the park and under I-69 to ride on very lightly traveled country roads. It is mostly an out and back course with a large loop at the outer end. The terrain is best described as rolling hills. All of the major intersections are staffed with local and state law enforcement.
Run: Upon returning to the park the run course leaves the transition and traverses some of the most scenic trails in the park. This is a 5k or 10k run for the triathlon. This is definitely a challenging but fair run course. The finsh line is in front of the pavilion for friends and family to see your great accomplishment.
Family: There are large playgrounds within site of the transition to entertain the little ones while the racing action is out of sight. Coming into the finish you will be hit by the lovely aroma of pancakes and sausage on the griddle ready for you to devour as soon as you cross the line. Drinks and fresh fruit will also be served. The awards ceremony will take place at the CCC pavilion as well. Chip timing is provided by Reed Results.
