Welcome to the 3 Feet Cycling Team! Take a moment to refresh your memory about our history, mission, and expectations. You will find that our expectations are fair, that they support the mission, and are manageable with little work from you. Please let us know if there are any concerns you have about meeting these expectations.
History: 3 Feet Cycling has been together in one form or another for over 11 years! SKC Racing became Power Partners, and now our forever name, 3 Feet Cycling. The event that changed the trajectory of this team was the loss of Glenda Taylor, hit by a car while warming up at the State Time Trial Championships in 2015. This moment profoundly impacted the cycling community within this state, and set forth a rededication to safety and advocacy. The team’s name was derived from the law in this state, and many others, requiring that automobiles give riders a minimum of 3 feet when passing.
The idea originated in the back of a bike shop. It started with a handful of guys who enjoyed hanging out at Velo+, shared a passion for adventure and endurance cycling, and enjoyed talking bikes over a cold beer or cup of coffee. With a common purpose, it didn’t take long for the group to realize they could accomplish more as a team. From these humble beginnings, we have grown to a team of 80 strong who love to ride and represent our team with pride.
As a team, we have bold ambitions to do great things in our community and for cycling. With a team that has a wide range of cycling interests, our numbers are our strength and allow us to support a variety of local cycling events. We offer several group rides per week, develop training programs for our members and gather several times per year to celebrate our successes and socialize. Together, with the support of our generous sponsors, Team Velo + provides a positive environment for cyclists to develop and improve their cycling skills.
