On May 22nd, 2011, a F5 tornado struck the City of Joplin in the most devastating of ways. This storm and the city became international headlines under the category of devastation. In the hours after this horrific experience, local artist Bart Paden drafted a logo that captured the plight of the city called Restore Joplin. The heart included a bandage around the heart and was a cry for help from neighbors all over the country. We are proud to say that citizens from all over this great country converged on Joplin and began to help with the restoration process. 5 years later, we are happy to reveal Restored Joplin and the removal of the bandage. Though a great deal of healing and recovery has occurred, the City of Joplin continues to aid those people and businesses still picking up the pieces. The Restored Joplin Virtual 5K allows anyone in the world an opportunity to share in the triumph of a city and the spirit of all Americans. A healthy portion of proceeds from this project will be donated to local charities whom have invested so deeply and selflessly. We invite you to run in any city, on any trail, at any pace, anywhere in the world and capture a limited edition package of commemorative items celebrating your kindness, care, and generosity. Simply email the results of your 5K walk or run to firstname.lastname@example.org and your gift will be mailed out in July. We thank you in advance for your participation in The Restored Joplin Virtual 5K.
